Whitney Tingle

Dana Harel designed Whitney Tingle, co-founder of Sakara Life (the plant-based meal delivery service that Victoria Secret Models and A-Listers like Gwyneth Paltrow swear by), a custom design wedding dress ,which we named the Whitney gown, for her wedding festivities in Tel Aviv.  We caught up with Whitney to hear her take on how to choose the perfect wedding dress.

How would you define your style?

I would call my style classic with an edge. Feminine, a bit hippie and just the right amount of sexy.

Why did you choose the Whitney dress?

I was looking through the lookbook and was in love with so many of Dana Harel’s dresses that it was hard to choose!  My friend Claire Distenfeld, the style genius and founder of the high-end fashion retailer Fivestory, actually helped pick this one out for me while we were at dinner one night. She saw it and knew it was the one. It’s classically beautiful, but also a bit unexpected. There’s nothing else like it out there. The detail on the bust is so flattering and feminine. She knew it was going to look spectacular and she was right!

Advice on how to find the perfect wedding dress?

I did a lot of Pinteresting and surfing Instagram to get a feel for different style options, but my best piece of advice for a bride looking for her dress is to try on dresses that you also wouldn’t normally select off the rack. I can’t tell you how many brides I know who said they ended up with a dress they would have never thought would choose because they saw how flattering and beautiful it was on the body. Now’s your chance to try things on, so go for it! And have fun with it! Oh, and my other piece of advice is to be sure you do your hair and makeup before you try on dresses. Be sure you feel like you look good, otherwise it can throw off how you feel in a dress even if it’s the perfect one for you. Getting a blowout before you go is worth the money!

Advice for brides to be?

I learned that what you do to prepare for your wedding isn’t just for one Big Day, it’s for life. Your wedding gives you an excuse to get in the best shape of your life, to dedicate time to taking care of your health, your nutrition, your exercise, your skincare & beauty routine, etc, which are all things that will benefit you forever! Especially if you’re thinking about having a baby in years following — it’s a great way to prep your body for that too. So my advice is to use the time to do the self care things that will make you feel really good (like going on the Sakara Life program ;), because now’s your time to do it and you deserve it!
